Before Islam, the Shrine's guardians were female priestesses called Bathi- Sheba, daughters of the ancient wise woman. BathSheba, means daughter of Sheba a priestess from the house of Sheba. See on Allat's headress that "house" of Sheba? -- her famous cube shrine in Mecca. They still keep her shrine cube-shaped, and still walk around it in droves, just like they did in their goddess-worshipping days. |
